This Bar Mitzvah had a black-light/neon theme with a touch of OFWGKTA. These geometric lanterns were a blast to produce and looked great along with glow-in the dark cotton candy and negative space created by black table cloths and decor. Champagne snowball!

Ultra soft blush/ nude champagnes and greens are a big color story this year… this sample arrangement includes Mother of Pearl and Patience garden roses with velvet geranium foliage. Can’t wait to see these hues “en masse” later in the season…
This dramatic October wedding had touches of classic 20’s Chicago and Chinese traditions from the Groom’s family. In Chinese wedding tradition red signifies love, joy and prosperity so we celebrated it’s full spectrum with masses of ranunculus, garden roses and dahlias. For the cocktail hour, mad shades of violet got the party underway. Our super …
Our winter window has been a happy beacon of an almost proper Chicago style winter. I love this time of year when we mirror nature and slow down, send our strength down into our roots and eat a lot of pork chop sandwiches. We are having many happy talks with new clients, and it amazes …
It’s really exciting to be included in an article about the new fashion in flowers in this month’s issue of Traditional Home. Now hurtling into feverish holiday decorating, we discovered another westside treasure right under our noses, Beret Ribbon. My favorite echevaria succulent, the velvety hybrid “Doris Taylor” …
My impaitence with my camera resulted in only a partial view of this wedding, but with an uncanniness that is apropos for all hallows’ eve. The vision for the wedding came to the mother of the bride’s best friend in a dream: Masses of red roses and purple grapes. We happily took our marching …
Minimalism proved a keen lens through which to view the season for this design dinner. Fall is such a maddeningly beautiful, chaotic season; I think this simplicity flatters it. These “firethorn” berries are gorgeous, but deadly with masses of thorns. When I was a freelancer back in the day, Paco, Dawn and I used to …
My friend Amy once explained to me the concept of power colors. Everyone has a power color, similar to a spirit animal but easier to integrate into your everyday life. She told me my power color is hot pink but I prefer the term fuchsia; which comes from the german scientist Leonhart Fuchs after the …
